IN CENTRAL AUSTIN
SEMI-PRIVATE INSTRUCTION WITH FIVE OR SIX STUDENTS TO A CLASS
Perfect for Home Schooled Students and Motivational Music-Related Activities
This year I am adding some options to my curriculum in the form of two extra group classes per month, to be held on alternate Saturdays. The subject matter is based upon my “Music Expressions” curriculum and will include different material each class. Students will be grouped according to similar age and classes are limited to 6 students each session. The cost is $25. for an hour and a half. Below is an example of subjects covered.
Theory Seminar (especially geared to those taking the Theory Test with ADMTA)
Ear Training Practice
Beginnings of Music: Prehistory through Renaissance – Illuminated Manuscript Art Activity
Theory Seminar (same as above with additional relevant information for the test early Nov.)
Program Music with Halloween theme: Danse Macabre and Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
Related Art Activity
Composition Seminar: Basics of Chord Progressions, melodic and harmonic construction
Baroque Period of Music – relating to Art & Architecture as well as music. Listening examples
Bach, Handel, Vivaldi. Art Activity using Baroque design elements.
American Musical Theater: Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Weber, George M Cohan,
Rogers & Hammerstein, Cole Porter.
Christmas Music from Around the World: customs and music from a variety of cultures.
Related Art Activity
Spring classes will include more composition and improvisation classes, the orchestra, chamber ensembles, Periods in music history (Classical, Romantic and Contemporary) with listening examples and art activities, and American Pop Music and how it relates to Classical roots, critical listening activities and Lives of the Musicians.
Also available upon request, one session per week for 10 weeks
